The D.I.D Electrical Singles

Considering the weather there was a very good turnout of players throughout the weekend - almost 120 took part - for the DID Electrical singles and while the scores on Saturday were good for the conditions the scores on Sunday were a little better in even more stormy conditions but John Molloy wasn’t overly affected by the conditions and he was a worthy winner returning 40 points off of 12 handicap. John was out in three over par which was excellent for the conditions and that converted to 21 stableford points. In windy (or any) conditions the back nine is always the more difficult of the two halves and John - like many others - found birdies and even pars hard to come by but he nevertheless got round with an impressive 19 points to make up his 40 points total to win. The recent initiative by the Men’s Committee to award category prizes instead of the traditional 2nd, 3rd and so on has been very successful and has given encouragement to the members to enter the competitions with the possibility of winning their category and this week again sees the results of that initiative where the Category Prizes were won by Michael O’Neill (4), Category 1, Dessie Gunne (12) Category 2 and William Burke (18) Category3.

It was a very successful competition and the Club is very grateful to D.I.D Electrical for the marvellous sponsorship.

On next Sunday, 17th September, the Club is kindly giving competition time for a Fund Raiser for a local young man, Evan Hickey of the Old Bridge, who is in urgent need of a brain operation which will cost many thousands of Euros. Teams of 4 @ €120 / team includes food and if you can’t make it you can donate to the fund at ‘gofundme’............your support for this worthy cause will be greatly appreciated.

Club Classic

The Club is holding its annual Club Classic on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, September 21st, 22nd, 23rd. The Time Sheets are on display in the Competitions Entry Hall. Teams of 4, any combination...great prizes to be won including best Ladies Team.

Earlier this year the Club installed a Label Printer which is a very useful little piece of equipment as it obviates the necessity for players to put all their details on the scorecard and even more importantly it obviated the necessity for the Card Checkers to ensure that all of the necessary details were on the scorecards. It hasn’t been in use for a few weeks now and when asked why it wasn’t being used it was learned that ‘SOMEBODY KEEPS ON PLUGGING IT OUT OF THE COMPUTER”

This is a malicious act on behalf of somebody who does not deserve to be a member of Clonmel Golf Club. However, all is not lost as it was learned that the committee are looking back through the CCTV records to establish who malevontly interfered with the Computer / Printer.
