Choose Your Partner - Week 6

While the rugby might have been responsible for Saturdays lower than normal full car park it still didn’t stop a great entry again for the week and while Bob Greaney (17) may have been used to a warmer climate the cold breeze didn’t deter him with partner Pat O’Shea (18) from coming home four shots clear of the field to gain them ten valuable points in the Martin Kane sponsored Choose Your Partner week 6 and a guaranteed place in the Final on March 10th / 11th.  This week was an Aggregate 4Ball which means that both players in a team have to pull their weight and this pair - after a poor start - really put the boot down after the third and amassed an incredible 42 points for the last nine holes. In second place were Paddy Ryan (10) and Richard Brannigan (18) and this pair have scored in three of the six rounds played to date and boosts Paddy’s individual score to 18 points and lying second on the Leaderboard just three off the leader Paul McGee. Richie Power (18) and Patsy O’Keeffe (15) also made sure of their place in the Final when scoring 5 points each for third place. Winning three valuable points each in fourth place were also two newcomers to the Leaderboard, Sean Crosse (17) and Noel Maher (19) and it looks like it would take something of a major upheaval to prevent this pair from being in the Final. Last week, due to the results, all of those with just one point lost their place in the top 40 and, because of the way this week’s results have gone, the last seven names on the Leaderboard, currently with just two points each, are actually outside the qualifying mark but with two more opportunities to get individual points these seven could climb to safety.

This week, Monday to Sunday, the competition is V Par and the following week from Monday to Friday only there’s a Champagne Scramble which is the last opportunity to make the cut for the grand Final. Let’s hope that Met Eireann’s predictions don’t come to fruition in the week ahead and give everyone these last two chances to qualify!
