CLONMEL GOLF CLUB
Camida Open 4Ball - Winners Paul McGee & Brendan McCarthy
The Camida Open 4Ball was won by Paul McGee and Brendan McCarthy with a very good score of 41 points for the 16 holes played but they only just scraped through on the back nine from Donncha Doyle and Conal Murphy. Paul McGee (12) and Brendan McCarthy (13) played a brilliant round of golf and turned in one under par with 18 points - which might have been as much as 24 had the 5th and 6th holes been in play. On the back nine they continued where they left off by scoring a massive 23 points on the back nine which was just one over par and even the fierce wind, straight into their faces didn’t stop them parring the Index 1 long 13th.
In second place was Donncha Doyle (10) and Conal Murphy (17) and as stated above, they were only pipped by the better back nine of the winners. Level par for the first seven, with Murphy especially showing that he can play golf just as well as cards, they scored 20 points. They slipped a little on the back nine, especially the Index 1 where they had a double bogey but finished strongly to amass a further 21 points to finish level on points with the winners.
In third place was Brian McLean (5) with Tony Norris (13) who were level for the seven holes in play on the front nine and played brilliantly in the conditions to complete the back nine, also in level par for a total of 40 points but just holding on to third spot because of the level par back nine.
Apologies to all players on the day for the confusion which arose over the handicap allowance which was 0.8 of the handicap and not 0.89 as stated on the Entry Sheet. This lead players to believe that their score was a point or two better (depending on handicaps) but after the competition all cards were adjusted to the correct handicap allowance.
The Club is indebted to Camida Chemical Clonmel, for their sponsorship.
Due to a very wet Sunday morning the Club Scotch 4Somes was cancelled.

A word of congratulations to our winning JB Carr Team who, under the Management of Tom Renehan, had a narrow but important win over near neighbours Cahir Park. It would be improper to pick out an individual partnership in the match, suffice to say that all ten players were worthy of their place on the day.
